Flying Fantastic
TSG were contracted by Flying Fantastic to design and install a truss grid into their new premises that they intended to convert to be a fitness studio with a circus theme.
There were a few interesting issues to deal with in the design process namely the shape of the building and the different activities wishing to happen on the structure and the resultant dynamic forces.
TSG came up with a truss design that followed the pitched profile of the building to attain the maximum height possible for aerial work. The pitched grid was supported on legs but to achieve maximum space one side had to be cantilevered around existing steel beams.
Dynamic loading was dealt with by design using a mixture of standard truss and hybrid trusses.
Some of the trusses were powder coated in varying colours to match the building aesthetic.
In addition, a series of floor mounted tie off points were designed and installed for all the performer lines.
The end result being a vibrant truss structure utilising the space to the maximum to allow the greatest utilisation.
